Acquisition of practical communication skills is a challenging goal for children with an autism spectrum disorder. It is one of the most critical diagnostic symptoms, but it also extends to being one of the essential challenges of specialized training programs. The difference and slow pace of development of communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, among children on the autism spectrum are associated significantly more by the nature, severity, and pattern of autism spectrum symptoms themselves.
